It depends on the tree and the reason for the work, but winter is often an ideal time for many tree maintenance jobs.
If you're unsure what's best for your property, we're happy to assess your trees and recommend the right approach. -

We recommend getting us out to do an obligation free quote, or at least sending us a bunch of photos or videos before we remove it. It’s important to understand the structure and integrity of the tree so we know how to safely fell it, to plan for avoiding damage to structures, animals and humans.

Pine is easy to light and burns quickly. It’s not great for night time but awesome when you want quick heat. Description text goes here

We always recommend hot mix. It’s a blend of pine so it’s easy to get going and then a hard wood (often gum or macrocarpa). Hard woods are more difficult to get going, but burn hot and burn for longer.

If you are after straight hard wood, perhaps you’ve got your own pine, we would love to help you out. It’s not always easy to come by, so the best option is to contact us to see if we can help you out. Item description
What areas do you service?
We are based at Te Toro, on the Āwhitu peninsula and service our local areas including Waiuku, Kariotahi, Otaua, Aka Aka, Glenbrook, Clarks Beach, Patumahoe and Karaka. Not on the list and think you should be? Get in touch via the contact form!
Do you deliver firewood?
We sure do. When you buy firewood from us, we deliver for free if you are within 15 km of Waiuku, or on the Awhitu peninsula. If it’s beyond that, we may be able to deliver for a reasonable fee (depending on where you live)! Our delivery vehicles have hydraulic tippers so we can tip the wood off at your place.
Can you chip branches on site?
Absolutely, our chipper goes with us throughout Franklin and can chip and leave the mulch for you, or we can cart it away for a small fee.
Do you provide tree services in Waiuku and the Āwhitu Peninsula?
Yes. Chritas Wood is based on the Āwhitu Peninsula and provides tree felling, tree trimming, portable sawmilling, firewood, and tree planting throughout Waiuku and surrounding rural areas. If you're unsure whether we cover your property, just get in touch and we'll be happy to help.
Can you remove just one tree, or do you only take on large jobs?
We handle everything from removing a single problem tree at a home to larger tree work on farms and lifestyle blocks from Patumahoe to Manukau heads and all throughout Franklin. Every property is different, so we'll assess the job and recommend the safest and most practical solution.
Do you plant trees?
Yes, we firmly believe in #righttreerightplace and we have a passion for planting natives.
We can help with planning, sourcing plants, and putting them in the ground so you can enjoy them and all the good things that happen when we plant trees. In the last four years, we have planted over 40,000 trees on the Āwhitu peninsula, so we know what we are doing!
